CALCITE INDUSTRY

Calcite is a mineral name and the carbonaceous rocks are formed by the chemical structure of this mineral is CaCO3. It is a colorless transparent structure with glassy sheen in various shapes. (rombaeder, crystallizes in the form of skalenoeder). It is easily ground and a white powder is obtained. The hardness is 3 according to Moh's scale and the density is in the range of 2.6-2.7. The mineral produced by the name of calcite is the main mineral of the carbonate rocks (limestone, marble, chalk). These formations;

  • LIMESTONES

    The white rocks of the primary rocks are evaluated by grinding in countries such as France and Egypt.
  • MARBLES

    It is formed by the recrystallization of limestone by metaphor- phism. Used in building and construction industry.
  • CRYSTAL CALCITES

    Formed as pure transparent crystals in crack fillings between limestone formation. Generally, commercial production is not possible.
  • CHALK

    Organic fossils are found in France and some parts of Europe. The grade of whiteness is around 87-88 and it is easy to grind.

  • Construction sector (plaster, putty, grouting, gypsum production)
  • Adhesives
  • Food Sector (yet not developed in Turkey)
  • Ceramics Industry
  • Carpet floor, ground floor industry
  • Pharmaceutical industry
  • It is used in coal plants to prevent air pollution.
